Esther McCartney, Ph.D., LMHCA

As a counselor (LMHC-A), I believe that everyone could benefit from additional support at some point in their lives. We all face challenges and barriers that can overwhelm us. By exploring these challenges and setbacks, we can work together to process previous trauma and develop or refine coping skills for when you are faced with new challenges.

My personal counseling style is focused on helping my clients work on progress and growth rather than perfection in meeting their goals. With my clients, I utilize an integrated theoretical approach of person-centered therapy, behaviorism, and reality therapy. I have worked with clients from a variety of different ages and backgrounds, and I can adjust my treatment approach to children and adolescents at different developmental stages.

I earned my Ph.D. in Counselor Education from the University of South Carolina in 2021, and I currently train future counselors at Northwest University. I also have previous experience serving clients on college campuses, in crisis settings, and within public schools.

Outside of counseling and teaching, I love to travel and enjoy a cup of coffee wherever I go.
